The Role

As the Accounting Assistant, you will work closely with our VP, Finance & Operations to provide a smooth operating financial team. This is a key role in the accounting team, providing ongoing support in the daily financial operations of the organization.

We are looking for a hands-on individual who thrives working with numbers, has a keen eye for detail, is highly organized, and can multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Full management of Accounts Payable, including processing vendor invoices, employee expense claims, and payment runs to our vendors
  • Monthly credit card reconciliations
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Financial reporting support
  • Semi-monthly payroll input
  • Maintaining an organized filing storage system
  • Administrative assistance as required, such as helping the office manager in general office duties

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in accounting
  • An understanding of accounting practices
  • A business-based diploma, ideally with a concentration on accounting
  • A business degree, or some progress towards an accounting designation, would be considered an asset
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Prior experience with Quickbooks, or a similar program
  • Able to work independently and balance competing demands
  • Has a high attention to detail
  • Is professional, with strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills

Salary: from $45,000 per year
