Job Summary

The Enterprise Application Services (EAS) department in ITS provides services to support and improve university administration by implementing, upgrading, and maintaining a variety of administrative systems and information technology platforms. Reporting to the Associate Director, Business Intelligence, the Business Intelligence Analyst maintains and enhances the service offerings of the Business Intelligence team in EAS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for stakeholder management, requirement analysis, and project coordination for data-related projects.
  • Works closely with teams intrinsic and extrinsic to EAS to identify and implement appropriate technology solutions for the university’s reporting needs.
  • Design and development of data assets and data processes (Extract, Transform, Load) to support the university’s data warehouse and reporting environment in collaboration with other teams intrinsic and extrinsic to EAS.
  • Monitor and maintain security and access to data assets in the reporting environment, troubleshoot performance issues in reports and dashboards authored by the clients, and other related duties.
  • Assist in the formulation of data administration standards, conventions, and best practices, and ensure they are followed. Create documentation as necessary to record the resolution of incidents and modifications to tasks and processes.
  • Monitor existing business intelligence platforms, reporting environments, and processes for anomalous behaviours/events and breaches of thresholds. Initiate remedial action as soon as is feasible.

Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Qualifications

A University degree in a related field (Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Management, etc), plus five years’ experience in a similar role (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Experience in I/T information resource management including data administration and data-related processes from a business intelligence perspective, and in report development and maintenance is required. Strong negotiation and leadership skills are desired. Experience with IBM’s Cognos reporting platform, cloud-based BI technologies, and project management methodologies would be assets. The candidate must be a highly motivated individual, an innovative thinker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
