Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Rochelle! – Digital Nova Scotia – Leading Digital Industry
Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Rochelle!

Amongst all of the changes that COVID-19 has brought, at Digital Nova Scotia we’ve still had some exciting positives taking place. Today, we are welcoming Rochelle Roberts to the team who will be joining us for 13-months as our Director of Marketing and Communications, as our team member Caitlin takes maternity leave this May to start a family.

With extensive experience in partnership marketing, Rochelle brings a passion for delivering innovative strategies to her role at Digital Nova Scotia. After studying in the journalism program at the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University until 2008, she has returned to Halifax after 12 years spent in the tourism marketing sector in British Columbia and Ontario. Her previous positions have been heavily-focused on collaborative marketing campaigns that combined digital platforms with traditional media. She is looking forward to building on the strong relationships that already exist in the Nova Scotia ICT sector while employing her skills in communications, graphic design, social media management, and partnership marketing.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Rochelle is excited about reconnecting with all of the beautiful outdoor spaces that she missed while living in other parts of the country.

We asked Rochelle a few quick questions so that we could all get to know her a little better:

Rochelle, can you tell us something about yourself that isn’t in your bio? I have a 9-year-old Australian Shepherd mix named Buffy (yes, after the vampire slayer).

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry? I’m interested in the amazing work that’s being done in this industry all across the province, and I’m excited for the opportunity to learn about technologies I didn’t even know existed.

So, it’s your first day – and an unusual one at that, as we’ve all been virtually welcoming you! What has been the best thing so far? I’m enjoying the opportunity to meet everyone digitally and learn about all of the great projects Digital Nova Scotia is working on. Watching Caitlin’s family wander in and out of her temporary workspace has also been quite entertaining.

What’s something you’re really interested in that might surprise us? Curling. I’ve been a fan since 2001!

If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? Up until earlier this year I would have said, “home to Nova Scotia”. Now that I’m finally living here again, I’d probably have to say South Korea.
