March 2020-April 2020 Marketing and IT officer at The Carpet Stop
Responsible for managing all social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook as well as creating content using Canva studio. Researching and implementing new measures to keep customers and staff safe on the shop floor during early stages of the COVID19 situation.
November 2019 – March 2020 Market Researcher at Value Licensing
Conducting global market research and collating data from government and public-owned organisations. Learning about various software programmes and their functions within governments across the world. I am learning how to code and manage websites through a course that I am enrolled on, I find this very useful and wish to progress to help me understand further the functions of SEO and Online Marketing.
Aug 2018- July 2019 Marketing Coordinator at The Compassionate Mind Foundation
The Compassionate Mind Foundation included an initial period of intense market and competitor research and alignment of all social media accounts. I set goals and targets, to achieve and reach the correct audiences and successfully portray the mission of the foundation. Along with managing marketing duties, my greatest achievement has been increasing the social media engagement, which led to workshop bookings increasing two folds in some cases. I have experience in Mail Chimp e-mail marketing and creating video content for social media and the website as well as creating a YouTube Channel. Towards the end of my time at the Compassionate Mind Foundation, I was creating a podcast, which was ready to air complete with episode layouts including a starting script. The foundation held many events throughout the year such as workshops and international conferences that required event planning skills and communication skills to ensure the events ran smoothly. I was a key part in the planning and administrative tasks in planning for the Edinburgh conference, which had an approximate delegate list of over 100 people per day across four days.
Dec 2017 – Aug 2018 Human Resources Assistant at the University of Derby
This role started as an internship and the HR department decided to offer me a role flexible around my university timetable and then later a part-time role after graduation. During my time working in HR, I was responsible for posting vacancies on the University website, LinkedIn and various other job

portals. I would monitor the recruitment process closely, calling candidates and arranging interviews. I have taken notes for many disciplinary and grievance meeting, gaining experience in handling information and situations of a sensitive and confidential nature.
September 2017 – December 2017 Careers Associate at the University of Derby
During this role, I was the first point of contact to students who wanted to book appointments to gain careers advice at the Careers and Employment Service. I would greet students and book them appointment slots with the correct person; wherever possible I made sure to advise them on certain schemes that were available at the University for them to enrich their work experience further.
June 2017 – September 2017 Marketing Coordinator at Trainee+Up Barcelona
During my Internship in Barcelona as Marketing Coordinator I took charge of marketing duties such as an international research project of all vocational educational providers in the European Union, this was a mammoth task which required attention to detail and focus. I was commended on my work ethic and efficiency during this project, this project improved my Excel skills. I helped with the redesigning of the website and in translating content into English from Spanish as well as creating new content for advertising online. Furthermore, I managed a project where we had to video and interview students who took part in exchange programmes through Trainee+Up for their feedback to showcase on social media and the website.
Aug 2016 – June 2017 Employer Engagement Assistant at the University of Derby
As part of my placement year I was successful in gaining a placement opportunity within the Careers and Employment Service where I worked with the Employer Engagement team organising fantastic events for students, staff, parents and businesses, creating opportunities for students to gain work experience and advertising them on social media and around the university campuses. Marketing our schemes and meeting with clients across the city to create opportunities for students.
June 2015 – June 2016 Kitchen Assistant at Littleover Nursing Home
I took this role whilst studying in my second year at University I learnt how to build work relationships and to maintain mutual respect with staff, visitors and residents. This role would include cleaning community areas such as lounges, kitchens, offices and toilets as well as personal rooms of residents. This role required me to be committed, proactive and helpful. In the evenings, I would assist the Head Cook in the Kitchen with teatime preparations and cleaning the premises.
Hobbies and Volunteering
I am currently studying Sikh scriptures from over 500 years ago and learning Gurmukhi calligraphy. I have been volunteering with organisations such as the Sikh Network, Your Seva, Royal Derby Hospital and Derby Silk Museum. I am fluent in Punjabi and Hindi and have limited proficiency in Spanish. I make time to study past techniques of binding and preservation of art, which goes hand in hand with my calligraphy work.
